Introduction

I was born in 496 B.C,  my father was Xanthippus, famous politician and general. I am the champion of Democracy,  I am Pericles the great statesman, and general of Athens. As a young boy my parents pushed me to become a successful politician, but I detested public speaking, and for the most part an introvert, that is until I met the scholar Anaxgoras. He taught me how to remain calm while speaking to the public, how to relax, and be more sociable around people. I pursued a political career at the early age of 17, after inheriting my parents wealth. Finally after exiling my opponent Cimon I gained the status as leader of Athens, and i held that title until death. I led Athens to it's Golden age after constructing the Parthenon. I inspired the people of Athens to take up arms when war with the formidable Spartans arose, "Freedom is secure for all who have the courage to defend it." Winning the war was not going to be easy, the Spartans were unbeatable in land battles, but never the sea. The war soon turned against the Spartans, and they soon proposed a truce. But the victory was short lived, soon after te truce was made Greece was ravaged by a grusome plague that claimed the lives of my wife and both of my sons. I fell into a deep depression, to make matters worse I was betrayed by the people I swore to protect. It was not long before I too, fell victim to the plague, but as shortly after my passing the truce with the spartans was broken and the war went into their favor.
